The criteria for people to obtain medicines which help them lose weight varies by the medicine. However, our criteria for the service is:

• You must be over 18 years of age

• You must have previously tried to lose weight through diet, exercise and lifestyle changes

• You must be committed to losing weight and willing to make diet, exercise and lifestyle changes for better health, regardless of the involvement of medicines.

The initial consultation for weight management is to get as much information about you as possible. This allows us to see if you are eligible for the service.

When you arrive for your initial consultation, you’ll be taken into the consultation room with a healthcare professional.

You’ll get your measurements taken on our body composition scale - this records your weight, BMI, percentage of body fat and percentage of body muscle, your visceral fat (the fat around your organs) and your resting metabolic rate (how many calories you consume per day while resting).

We’ll also go through an in-depth healthcare and lifestyle questionnaire.

You’ll then be asked about your history with your weight and diet, about any previous medicines you’ve taken and what your thoughts are about next steps.

All of this will be produced in a report for you to keep.

If you are eligible for our weight management service, and you decide to go forward, the team will discuss your medication options with you.

An initial weight management consultation costs £49.

If you are eligible for the weight management service, and choose to continue, the cost of the initial consultation is deducted from the cost of the first consultation and prescription.

Under the weight management service, we can prescribe either Wegovy (semaglutide) or Mounjaro (tirzapetide).

Please note that all prescriptions are always subject to a consultation with the presciber.

Costs for patients on the weight management service vary by which item is prescribed. You can expect to pay between £185 to £255 for 4 weeks of medication. This cost includes ongoing consultations, measurements and reports.

Absolutely! We’ll need a full copy of your prescription history and you’ll still need to do an initial weight management consultation with us to confirm your eligibility.

You’ll be expected to attend, in person, for a weight management consultation every 4 weeks.

Please always exercise caution with online providers. You cannot ‘buy’ prescription-only-medicines like Wegovy, Mounjaro or Ozempic without a consultation and prescription. Anywhere that is offering to sell these products is doing so illegally and are likely a scam.
